• UCCA Golf Cart Registry is Here!

    August 24, 2022
  • The UCCA is proud to announce our initial version of a Golf Cart Registry for island golf carts.  The new capability “Pages” menu selection on the UCCA website.  We hope that the registry is easy to navigate but we have also included a “Step By Step” guide under the HELP link on the registry page, as well as a group of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for the usual questions about the process, available on the website FAQ page https://www.uppercaptivacivicassociation.org/faq.

For years, islanders have struggled with the issue of dangerous golf cart operations. Whether it be underage drivers, reckless operation, drivers under the influence, driving on the beach, or other risky behavior, frustrations continue to build and the need for some type of tool to help address the issue was needed.  This registry is intended to be a tool to help begin to get this issue under some manner of control. However, this tool must be accompanied by cart use agreements by home, rental, or fleet owners that clearly outline rules, restrictions, and penalties for misuse.

This registry is open to all island residents and businesses with whatever cart numbering or identification that you currently have in place (cart stickers, house names, business names, etc.), at no cost as a public service to our Island.

As the registry grows, Islanders will be able to use their cell phones, while on island pathways, to:

    • Take pictures of unsafe operations of island golf carts (including young children or drunk drivers, too many passengers, etc.)
    • Search for owners & property managers using either cart color, cart identification, or house name
    • Call, text, or email the owner or property manager with the ability to attach pictures about unsafe golf cart operations

This golf cart registry is NOT meant to compete with the Island Club’s new golf cart initiatives for their own carts and their members’ carts but to complement those processes, as well as provide capabilities for Islanders that are not members of the Island Club and able to take advantage of their new processes.

    Caveats:

    • The registry places direct contact information “behind the scenes” so that Island contact information isn’t easily “scraped” by internet bots
    • The UCCA Golf Cart Registry is a voluntary system hosted for the convenience of island cart owners. UCCA makes no guarantee of operation or accuracy of the data contained in the registry as users maintain their own data. By using the registry, you are agreeing to waive any UCCA liability.

If you have suggestions to improve or to report problems with the entry or edit processes (or improving the Step by Step document under the HELP link), please email info@UpperCaptivaCivicAssociation.org with details of your problem or suggestion.
