Marlene has owned a home on Upper Captiva for 22 years. She is a Florida resident, and has homes in Conn. She has three children, all college graduates and business owners. Her three grandchildren are star students and Island lovers. She has one husband of 54 years, who, she claims is “much older than I.” Currently, she is hoping her maltipoo, Lola, will live in harmony with her new puppy, Moira. Marlene believes that common sense is key to solving any Island problem, and that the only acceptable wild iguana is a dead iguana.

Please contact Marlene via email with any ideas, suggestions, concerns.

Bonnie and her husband, Brad, are full time North Captiva residents. They are raising two sons on the island, Charles and Wesley. They have an adult daughter, Amelia, attending college in Idaho. Originally from Glen Rose, TX, she lived in Star Valley, Wyoming (38 miles south of Jackson, WY) from 2012 until moving to North Captiva in 2019. She embraced all that is involved with island living. Bonnie homeschools the children 3 days a week and boats them across to school the other 2 days.  She is licensed in the state of Florida as a Registered Nurse. Additionally, the Whitmore’s open their home to foster children.

Like many before her, Bonnie’s love for the island was immediate. She believes maintaining the essence and conserving the “old Florida” feel, that is North Captiva, to be a top priority.  Bonnie is open minded to suggestions, please email anytime.

Jeremy and his wife Amy first visited the barrier islands of SW Florida 30 years ago falling in love with the island pace and beauty.  Their first visit to North Captiva island was over 10 years ago now, and they knew that first day this is where they wanted to be. They have been owners since a few months after their first visit, and purchased a new home less than a year before Ian, 601 Rum Road. They have two boys, 22 and 19, who we have developed life long memories with them on the island, and look forward to continue to do so from their new vantage point. Amy and Jeremy have a goal of making the island their primary residence in 2024.

Jeremy served on the UCCA board for 2022 filling a vacated seat. Seeing the island community come together to support one another in the aftermath of Ian was encouraging, and is excited about the opportunity to serve on the UCCA Board again.  With recovery continuing, the new development on the island, continued interest by vacationers and the vast turnover of owners over the past few years, he believes UCCA has a role to play to bring the community together. He want to be involved helping our island community to develop smartly, maintain the barrier island feel we all love, and provide pragmatic solutions to challenges we do and will face.  Building community is a key component to the success we all want to have.
