Each year the Upper Captiva Civic Association (UCCA) sponsors a fund raiser called Island Fest. Island Fest is a celebration of all of the beauty, talent, excellence, and community spirit that is a part of this most beautiful island. Hello Fellow Islanders, Island Cleanup Day is Saturday, Feb. 16. Please meet at the Fire Station around 9:00 AM to receive your assignments. As usual, all participants will receive coupons for free beans & rice at Barnacle’s, as well as the thanks of all Islanders. The roads are continuing to improve thanks to the diligent efforts of the Fire District. After the original successful project to rework a significant section of the main road from Safety Harbor to the airstrip, there was an additional project completed with leftover material from that project to rework Seair drive which greatly improved the quality of that section of road. The Sixth Annual Fun Run, sponsored by the Upper Captiva Fire and Rescue District, will take place on Friday, December 28th, at 9:00 am. This 5K run/walk event is a fund raising effort for the Fire District. Funds raised or donated toward this event will likely be used to work on our roads.
